The Parker 51 fountain pen was originally launched in 1941, inspired by the design of the P-51 fighter plane. Its unique hooded nib gave it a futuristic look, earning it the label "a pen from another planet." The pen enjoyed widespread popularity for over 30 years before production ended in 1978.

Now, the Parker 51 is back, featuring minor design updates that allow it to fit comfortably into the 21st century. Its recognizable fighter plane shape remains intact, and the barrel continues to be made from glossy precious resin. It still boasts the sleek hooded nib and jeweled end cap. Recent enhancements include a screw-on cap and a slightly longer pocket clip, which now matches the length of the Sonnet's clip, while still retaining the classic Parker arrow design.
